I bring you sad news of the passing of our dear friend and colleague Colm Butterly. Colm passed away suddenly this week at age 47.
Like all who knew him, I am deeply saddened and shocked by this tragic news. The internet marketing community has lost a true gentleman.
If you've kept up with this blog, you know that Colm was a brilliant author and renowned SEO expert. Colm was also a much respected moderator of the Standing Start Profits forum, where he was highly valued and appreciated as a generous mentor. If a tough question was posed, you could be certain that Colm would be one of the first to take up the challenge, always going above and beyond to find a solution.
Colm was among the first at SSP to reach out and offer me his friendship and generous guidance. Look at any forum post made by Colm, and you'll immediately recognize a kind, generous man who was quick to offer positive support, not only with great skill and insight, but also with a warm sense of humor.
I offer my sincerest condolences and prayers for Colm's family, including his wife, Sian, and his young son. I cannot imagine the loss they must feel right now.
His passing is a terrible loss for our community.
We will miss you Colm Butterly. God Bless.

You've heard of it, but if you're like me, you probably don't have a clue what Web 2.0 is all about? Thankfully, Colm does an elegant job of demystifying "Web 2.0" by not only explaining what the heck it is, but by showing you how to leverage Web 2.0 to gain ranking on Google and Yahoo.
The book explains in simple terms, with lots of graphics to illustrate, how to quickly and easily search engine ranking using free resources like social bookmarking sites, Squidoo and blogs to create a "web ring" of related websites, each pointing to the other.
The timeliness of Colm's advice is ideal. This is a new era for the web, and at the current time, very few "big boys" are levering this powerful new technology, giving use "little guys" with an opportunity to out manuever even big budgeted companies that have resources and full time staff to devote to SEO. I sure hope the gurus don't read this book any time soon!
Some Refreshing Differences
Not only does Search Domination Challenge give you Colm's tips and tricks for getting noticed by the search engines, it also packs in a LOT of good old fashioned value.
A noticeable difference from the usual Internet Marketing ebooks I've purchased is that this one isn't filled up with affiliate links to upsell you to higher priced products. Yes, there are some affiliate links in the book, but they're at the end of the book so that they don't disrupt the reader from focusing on the book. The result is a very readable and informative guide, with any affy links appearing at the end. I can see the gurus cringing! What? No affiliate links littered throughout the book? No upsells? Colm has written a real book ... gulp ... not just a backdrop for a big sales job?
Something Unique (which I'm betting you'll see others copy)
A really clever tool Colm utilizes throughout the book is the use of sidebar Adobe "notes", which unobtrusively (in keeping with his goal of not interrupting your read) provide Colm's own personal side notes, tricks and tips. These useful information boxes are distributed throughout the book appropriately and they really do add a lot of value by providing useful tips and tricks without detracting from the flow of the book.
It's an original idea that I've not seen before, and I am quite sure it's a method that you'll see in other internet marketers future ebooks.
Over-Delivery ... What A Novel Idea!
Not only is this book filled with practical information, Colm also provides a direct link to a special "help desk" that he set-up specifically to support this book. At the Search Domination help desk, readers can offer comments about the book, suggestions for improvement, additional areas to cover in future releases, but also can ask questions about the tactics suggested in the book. For those readers making useful suggestions for future versions of the book, Colm has even promised to give them credit for their ideas in future releases.
Colm obviously understands the concept of "over delivery" and the philosophy that the true key to his long-term success is to provide fantastic value! On that front, this book really does over-deliver.

Announcing Colm Butterly's SEARCH DOMINATION CHALLENGE!
Okay, here's the deal...
Right off the bat, I decided to join in an intriguing contest dreamed up by a brilliant guy named Colm Butterly (I must have mispelled his name "Butterfly" a million times, but now I've got it down). You see, Colm is an absolute genius when it comes to achieving a high ranking in the search engines, Google in particular. Colm has, as they say, "cracked the code" on the little known back doors and tricks for getting a site/blog/squidoo ranked high on Google.
Being the great guy that he is, Colm has written a eBook on how to dominate the search engines where he shares all of his secrets of how to get placed in the top 10 of Google. Personally, I think he's nuts for giving away all of his secrets, but he's one those Internet Marketers, who, like Lee McIntrye, feel that it is better to give than to receive. Or, more accurately, the more you give, the more you receive in return.
Well, it must be working big time, because you just can't argue with the success and meteroric rise of guys like Lee McIntyre...the proof is in the pudding, as the saying goes.
Ah, but I digress...THE CONTEST!
Oh yes, the contest...here's where it gets interesting. Colm has come up with an elegant idea to kick off the launch of his new eBook, "Search Domination Challenge" by holding a competition to effectively prelaunch a prelaunch. In the contest, contestants compete to see who can achieve the highest ranking in Google and Yahoo with their websites, blogs and Squidoo lenses.

This blog introduces and will give information on the upcoming launch of my new website, Newbie-FAQs.com, where I'll be answering all of YOUR frequently asked questions about internet marketing, creating and selling eBooks and leveraging the power of eBay.
I came up with the idea to start Newbie-FAQs.com after I kept seeing newcomers to internet marketing asking the same common questions over and over on marketing forums like planetsms and Standing Start Profits.
The recurring questions were questions that I had too, as I was struggling to learn the Internet Marketing business, so I knew that there were many other newcomers out there like me that had loads of questions about where to start and how to accomplish the tasks that are necessary to succeed in the internet marketing business.
So I decided to start Newbie-FAQs.com in the hope of answering all of your frequently asked questions!
Not only will I be writing eBooks on frequently asked newbie questions, but I'll also be providing you with video tutorials to show you step-by-step how to tackle many of the jobs that you must know how to do properly in order to run a successful online business.
